Snow Day

Warning:  don’t ever tell your sixteen year-old daughter how delighted you are that – since her sister is over at a friend’s house and her brother has a friend over to play X-box and she had a friend sleep over that is still here doing homework – don’t tell her that it’s great that all of your kids are currently on PLAYDATES.  This is not a term for the over five set.  Apparently.

It’s been an indoor weekend here at the Procrastamom household, except for the playing in the snow part:

Soccer was cancelled for yesterday and today, so it meant that we didn’t have to have Andie at her game at 8:30 this morning in a city three thousand miles away. Really it was in Kerrisdale in Vancouver, but that’s a good 40km from here in a strange part of the city that we’ve never been to. Staying in bed a little later was a real bonus and hopefully when they reschedule that game in a couple of weeks, the Vancouver team will have to come out here to play. We can only wish.

Yesterday I made a lasagna for dinner. There were three cooked noodles leftover in the pan after I assembled the lasagna, so I threw one each at Andie and Adam and we had an impromtu noodle fight in the kitchen. I’ve often threatened my kids with fifty lashes with a wet noodle when they’ve been unruly. I clearly dominated in that fight, so they got what has been coming to them for a long time now. Follow through parenting, that’s what I’m all about.

What’s this? Kerrisdale you say? That is but a mere stone’s throw from my place. You must let me know the next time you are there and I will come and see you, dahlink!
